Steve and Judy Jacks Berman announce the engagement of their son, Joseph Michael Jacks Berman, to Sarah Riva Novick, daughter of Peggy Albertson of San Diego, Calif., and Robert Novick of El Paso, Texas. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Sarah is the granddaughter of Sam Ellowitz and the late Grace Ellowitz and the late Ruth and Jules Novick. She attended UCLA, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology; and Long Island University where she earned a Master of Science degree in education, specializing in elementary special education. She is currently a candidate for Doctorate in Education in curriculum and teaching at Boston University in Boston.
Joseph is the grandson of Estelle Berman and the late Bronia and Mendle Roslawowski and the late Fred Berman. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and his rabbinic ordination from Rabbinical School of Hebrew College. He is currently the rabbi of Temple B’nai Israel in Revere, Mass.
