Shelley Hedrick and Thomas Hedrick of Kansas City announce the engagement of their daughter, Erica Hedrick, to Zachary Yagerman, son of Hillary and Howard Yagerman of Syosset, N.Y.

The future groom grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and attended the University of Rochester, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and economics. He currently works in advertising in Chicago.
An October wedding in Kansas City is planned.
