SevenDays has announced that Kansas City Royals Broadcaster Joel Goldberg and Susan Goldberg are serving as honorary chairs for the nonprofit's annual Kindness Breakfast and Walk.

The breakfast will be on Wednesday, Apr. 5, and the Kindness Walk will be on Sunday, Apr. 16.

SevenDays (formerly the Faith Always Wins Foundation) is a Kansas City-based nonprofit organization that aims to overcome hate by promoting kindness and understanding through education and dialogue. Each April, SevenDays hosts an annual fundraiser to provide for year-round activities.

“Like all Kansas Citians, Susan and I were devastated by what happened in April 2014,” said Goldberg, referring to the murders of Reat Underwood, his grandfather Dr. William Corporon and Terri LaManno outside of Jewish facilities in Kansas City. “We’re heartened by SevenDays’ mission to overcome hate through kindness and understanding and honored to be part of the 2023 Kindness Breakfast and Walk.”

The breakfast will be held in The Foundry at the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. The SevenDays Kindness Youth Leadership Team will host the breakfast and announce student winners of its annual button design competition and recipients of the Kindness Action Scholarship. Former Kansas City Royals President of Baseball Operations Dayton Moore, SevenDays 2022 Ripple of Kindness honoree, will introduce the 2023 recipient of this prestigious award.

SevenDays is accepting nominations from the community for the Ripple of Kindness Award through this link. Nominations will be accepted through Dec. 31.

SevenDays President and Co-founder Mindy Corporon is pleased to have the Goldbergs as part of the kindness team.

“Asking Susan and Joel was an easy decision,” Corporon said. “They believe in the importance of community, and they support our mission and value the impact we are making by teaching kindness. While Joel is used to an audience, we are thrilled that Susan was just as excited to step into this notable role on behalf of SevenDays. Our friends, the Goldbergs, will be joining us at various SevenDays programs and activities, helping spread the ripple of kindness.”

Joel and Susan Goldberg moved to Kansas City with their two children in 2008 when Joel became part of the Kansas City Royals television broadcast team. The move was a homecoming for Susan, who grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, before she moved to Chicago, Illinois. The family now lives in the Kansas City area. Susan is a speech language pathologist who has worked in schools in Kansas and Missouri. She also served as the preschool director at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah.

In addition to being part of the Royals broadcast team, Joel hosts the “Rounding the Bases” podcast. He is also the author of “Small Ball Big Results,” a book about small things that add up to big wins in baseball, business and life. Both Goldbergs are active in the community through various organizations including Stage Right Performing Arts, The Blue Valley Education Foundation, Lead to Read and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Corporon invites the public to follow SevenDays’ social media on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn to find out where the Goldbergs will appear, find opportunities to participate in its efforts, and view sponsorship opportunities. More details are available at SevenDays.org.
