The Acclaimed Author Series by Jewish Experiences, a collaboration of Jewish Federation and The J, is proud to present Joshua Jay’s “How Magicians Think: Misdirection, Deception, and Why Magic Matters.”

Joshua Jay, one of the world’s most accomplished magicians, opens that door and brings us inside to reveal the artistry and obsessiveness, esoteric history, and traditions of a subject shrouded in mystery.

This in-person event will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 9, at Congregation Beth Torah. It is a free event.

Jay has performed on stages in over 100 countries. He was awarded the top prize at the World Magic Seminar and has fooled magicians Penn and Teller on their hit show, “Penn & Teller: Fool Us.” He holds a Guinness World Record for “Most Selected Cards Found from a Shuffled Deck in One Minute.”

Jay has performed magic on numerous television shows, including appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “The Late Late Show With James Corden.” He has designed illusions for stage and screen, including a recent collaboration with HBO for “Game of Thrones.”

Jay is the author of several books, including the best-selling “Magic: The Complete Course.” Most recently, Jay was awarded Magician of the Year 2020 by the Society of American Magicians Parent Assembly for his contribution to the art of magic.
