This year's community Yom HaShoah service will be held on May 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the White Theatre at The J.
The ceremony marks 79 years since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the 59th anniversary of the dedication of the Memorial to the Six Million, and 77 years since the end of World War II.
Chaired by Dr. Frances Glazer Sternberg, the program will feature the wartime experiences of her parents, Bessie Fischman Glazer (of blessed memory) and Abraham Glazer. The program will also include the traditional lighting of six candles honoring the 6 million murdered Jewish victims, opening remarks by Rabbi Mark Glass, and a closing reflection by Rabbi Larry Karol.
The community is invited to attend the in-person service. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required. Those who are unable to attend in person are encouraged to watch the livestream on the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education YouTube channel.
