Joy Kingston, 87, Simi Valley, Calif., passed away Saturday, Jan. 30. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo New York Cemetery Corp. to support rehabilitation of abandoned Jewish cemeteries. Miss Kingston was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo. She attended Southwest High School and went on to attend both the Universities of Wisconsin and Missouri. She enjoyed a career of more than 30 years in fashion design, specializing in ladies sportswear. She worked at Nelly Don Dresses in Kansas City and continued her fashion career with moves to New York, Dallas and California, where she also worked in costume design. She was particularly fond of poodles, and at least one could usually be found at her side. Miss Kingston was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothy Koeningsdorf; and sister, Elaine Frank, 1996. She is survived by her cousin, Matthew Layne, and his partner, Jeffrey Read, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; niece, Babette Nasland, and husband, Herbert, Salinas, Calif.; cousin, Patsy Dunn Shanberg, Overland Park; and other extended family.
