Answer the call

This weekend, the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas conducts its annual Super Sunday phone-a-thon. Hundreds of volunteers will solicit funds that go to support the programs and services of eight local agencies, national and international Jewish agencies and Israel.

We all know times are tough. More people have asked for assistance from Jewish agencies than ever before. We’ve also come to appreciate many fine programs offered by these agencies that just can’t survive without Federation funds. We may not know what the year ahead holds for us financially. But one thing is certain — if we do not help support these agencies and programs through this fundraising campaign, they may not be there when we truly need them.

Answer the phone. Give what you can. The money raised is being used to help people — not only people in need, but people who want to strengthen their Jewishness.
